Synod of the Archdiocese

The Synod and Pastoral Plan

The Parish Synod Interview Process must be completed by 30th June 2021 for submission of the consolidated responses to the Archdiocese by 31 July 2021

What is this Synod?

This Synod is a call to all Catholic to be Missionary Disciples of the Gospel, to bring Good News to ALL people. It is an invitation for Catholics to invoke the Holy Spirit to direct and guide our lives.

It is a call to examine conscience on our faith and THAT Direct line between Jesus Christ and You.

The Synod of the Archdiocese of Pretoria is a call to all Catholics in the area to actively participate in the revival of the spiritual life of the Body of Christ – the Church - You, the parishioner.

It is therefore a call to the entire Catholic community wherever you might be in the Archdiocese.

Archbishop Dabula Mpako is inviting each member through the Parish Priest, in our case, Father Antony Sikhalele Mdlhuli, to examine their faith with the aim to collectively inspire the growth of the church spiritually, pastorally and temporally.

Parishioners are requested to read through the Pastoral Plan (attached) and internalise its message and teachings.

This will be followed by a series of questions (attached) based on nine (9) Focal Areas, which the parishioner must answer as they will be guided by the Synod Facilitator assigned to them.

The first session of the questionnaire Must be answered (face to face and in person). Depending on the progress towards completing the process, the rest of the questions can be answered using different methods such as meeting at church or a suitable venue or even by virtual social media.

This call of the Synod is united with the invitation to each Catholic, and all Catholic Communities within the Southern African Catholic Conference area, in their own context, to study and discuss the Pastoral Plan. Then each diocese and parish may decide how to implement the outcomes of the Pastoral Plan.

You, as a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, are hereby encouraged and invited to actively participate in this important process.
