Catechism

Our catechetical year runs from February to end November each year.  Catechism is
taught by  15 catechists  who generously  volunteer  their time  to  ensure  that  our
faith is passed on to the children of our parish.  The  Parish thus provides the  means
to   enable   parents   to  meet  their  obligation  and  ensure  that their  children  are
instructed in the Faith.

Catechism Classes
Our catechism classes run every Sunday after Mass  from about 09:00 to 09:45.
A register of attendance is kept and a 80% class and Mass attendance is required
in order for the students to be promoted to the next class.

There are six classes:

Pre-Communion (ages 5 to 7)            This class prepares the children to
attend catechism on a regular
basis. Lessons are usually
craft-based.

First Holy Communion Preparation (ages 8 to 10) This is a two year programme to
prepare the child for the Sacrament
of First Holy Communion.

Post Communion (ages 10 to 11)

Pre-Confirmation (ages 12 to 13)

Confirmation (ages 14 to 16) This is a two year programme to
prepare these young adults for the
Sacrament of Confirmation.

Bridging The need arose for a bridging class
to accomodate children who,
being too old for the First Holy
Communion class, have had no
catechism education whatsoever.
